How to Use the Planner (Step by Step)

1. Start with Anchors, Not Tasks

There are time blocks for every half hour.

Before filling in to-dos, write in your non-negotiables:

  • Work hours

  • Appointments

  • School or family commitments

  • Standing routines (meals, movement, rest)

This gives you a realistic framework for the week.

Using a highlighter or color pencils or ink can help you create an at a glance visual by using certain colors for certain task types.

2. Assign Energy, Not Just Time

As you look at open spaces, ask:

  • Where do I naturally have more energy?

  • What tasks need focus vs. ease?

Use higher-energy times for:

  • Decision-making

  • Organizing projects

  • Creative work

Save lower-energy times for:

  • Errands

  • Admin

  • Rest and recovery

This planner isn’t about filling every space—it’s about honoring your capacity.

3. Leave White Space on Purpose

One of the most powerful features of a weekly overview is what you don’t schedule.

Leave room for:

  • Flexibility

  • Transitions

  • The unexpected

  • Breathing room

White space is not wasted space—it’s supportive structure.

4. Choose 1–3 Weekly Priorities

Instead of a long task list, ask:

If only a few things went well this week, what would they be?

Let those priorities guide your decisions and protect your energy.

5. End the Week with Gentle Reflection

At the end of the week, take a moment to reflect:

  • What flowed well?

  • What felt too full?

  • What needs adjusting next week?

This simple reflection builds awareness—and awareness builds lasting order.

While this planner is designed to help you plan forward, it’s just as powerful when used in reverse.

This planner can be used not only to plan ahead, but also to gently reflect back. Some people like to use this resourse as a tracker  – recording where their time is going. Then, spend a few quiet minutes at the end of the week noticing where their time actually went—much like reviewing spending in preparation of creating a budget. This awareness can inform the next week without adding pressure.

By recording how your time is actually spent, you begin to notice:

  • Where your energy consistently goes

  • Which commitments support your values

  • Which patterns leave you depleted

Just like tracking spending helps us steward our finances wisely, tracking time helps us steward our lives with intention.

There’s no “right” week—only information that helps you plan the next one more thoughtfully.
